Roydan is happy to welcome Will Kyle to our team of talented software developers. Will began working with the team in early October as Roydan’s User Experience and Interface Designer.
As a recent college graduate, Winston Weinert is thrilled to call Roydan his first employer. He began his role as a Junior Software Developer in late September, after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in computer science.
It goes without saying that 2020 has not been the year anyone expected. It has been a year of challenges for everyone, but has been particularly difficult for those who suffer with mental health issues. The Roydan team is proud to play a part in creating hope for individuals struggling with mental illness through our long-standing affiliation with the Manitowoc-based Painting Pathways Clubhouse.
Chris Warren’s roadmap to joining Roydan as Software Developer began a bit differently than most others. As the sole I.T. professional for one of Roydan’s customers, he already had intricate knowledge of our Bloodhound software solution, as well as an established rapport with our development team members.
Roydan is thrilled to welcome Holly Hoffman to our growing team! Her problem-solving mindset and willingness to do whatever it takes to address customer concerns make her a great addition to the Roydan family.
For over forty years, Roydan founder Dan Hornung’s goal has been to put the customer first, and Roydan’s customers have benefitted greatly from this customer-centric mindset. Recently, Dan took his role as customer advocate one step further, becoming a member of ACA International’s Political Action Committee.
Investing in the next generation is a key part of our Roydan culture. With that in mind, we are thrilled to welcome Max Schoepp to the Roydan family as a Youth Apprentice from Manitowoc’s Lincoln High School. Max, who is a senior at Lincoln, joined us late last year. As part of his apprenticeship, he will be at Roydan each afternoon through the end of the school year.
Giving back is an important part of Roydan’s company culture, and we look for ways to make our communities and the world a better place. Somehow when a child comes to you with an idea for giving back, it holds an even deeper meaning, and when we heard about a little girl’s wish to help other kids, we knew we had to get involved.
Investing in the next generation is important to us here at Roydan. This summer we were fortunate to welcome two outstanding interns to our team who assisted in our accounting and development departments.
Our goal at Roydan is to provide a customer-centric experience. Having team members with a firm understanding of collection agency operations only serves to deepen our team’s ability to create products that will offer our customers continued success. With that in mind, we are excited to add Jace Clemons to our Roydan Support Team.
Manitowoc, Wisconsin is a great place to run a business. Not only is this quaint community the home of Roydan’s corporate headquarters, it is also an area in which many of our team members call home. We believe it is important to be valuable and helpful members of our community, seeking out opportunities to give back to those in need. This past winter, we had the chance to do just that through two different community-focused donation drives.
At Roydan, we are constantly evolving to meet our customer’s needs. We work tirelessly to ensure they not only receive the best debt collection software, but also the very best service and support. With that in mind, we are excited to announce the promotion of Megan Manis from Vice President of Sales & Marketing to Chief Customer Officer (CCO).
“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year.” Ralph Waldo Emerson could not have expressed our sentiment any better as we celebrate many great milestones in 2018 and look forward to continued positive momentum in 2019.
At Roydan we are always excited to bring on new team members. We believe that different perspectives allow us to create the very best solutions for our valued customers. When we met the newest member of our Software Development team, we knew that he would fit in perfectly.
What began as a personal fitness quest for Roydan’s Kyle MacDonald ended up as a way to help those who cannot run on their own. Early in 2018, Kyle set a goal to not only get in shape, but also to run the Brewers half marathon, which took place on September 22.
Creating the best possible debt collection software solutions for our valued customers requires a talented group of team members. The staff at Roydan is more than just a bunch of individuals developing and implementing software solutions. We are a family! We are thrilled to announce that we have an opportunity for an Application Analyst to join our growing team.
You can discover a lot about a person by observing them in their daily environment and learning more about the things that make them who they are. The same unique discoveries can be made in a business environment. Visiting the space “where the magic happens” allows outsiders to get a glimpse into what makes an organization successful and invites them into the space that inspires team members to do their very best work.
Providing the best, most reliable software solutions for our customers is paramount to how we do business here at Roydan. Part of this reliability means that our customers can trust that sensitive information about their business is kept safe. In order to demonstrate this commitment to our customers, Roydan recently underwent a SOC (System and Organizational Controls) examination.
At Roydan, we consider ourselves a team. Each team member plays an integral part in serving our valued customers’ needs. When we add to our “roster”, we look for individuals who comprise a special mix of team player and customer focus. We hit the jackpot for both our team and our customers when we added Support Specialist Angie Bednarski!
At Roydan, we are fortunate to have team members and customers that feel more like family than just a group of people with whom we work. With that said, we embrace a whole mix of emotions as we say farewell to Loan Nguyen, a Roydan family member since 2008.
What started as a Kellnersville Betterment Association volunteer gig for his kids’ baseball teams has turned into an annual patriotic event for Roydan’s Jeff Peterson. Peterson will be part of the volunteer team who will light up the skies in Kellnersville to celebrate our nation’s 242nd birthday this year.
At Roydan, we believe education and collaboration are two keys to our success as a debt collection software developer. When we have the opportunity to give back to our fellow developers, we seize the day! That is exactly what Roydan Software Developer James McCollum did this past March at the Northeast Wisconsin Developers Group’s (NEWDUG) annual Code Camp.
Roydan has been a part of the Manitowoc, Wisconsin community since 1980. We believe that giving back is an important part of being a good neighbor, and we encourage our team members to seek opportunities to use their skills and talents to make Manitowoc a better place to live and work. This past spring, two of our team members, Ryan Manis and Matt Menges, did just that for by coaching at area high schools. Ryan was the Assistant Varsity Tennis Coach and Head JV Tennis Coach for the Manitowoc Lincoln Ships, and Matt was the Varsity Girls Softball coach for the Manitowoc Lutheran Lancers.
Travis Hoium, author for the Motley Fool, was once quoted as saying, “There’s really only one constant in Las Vegas and that’s change.” While this quote was meant to personify the effervescent daily transformations of the “City of Lights,” it's also quite appropriate for the debt collection industry, making Vegas the perfect location for the 2018 ACA Spring Forum and Expo.
At Roydan we consider our employees a part of our family. We look for team members who will not only fit into our family dynamic but also flourish as a Roydan team member. With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce that we are adding a Software Support Specialist to our growing family.
From our valued customers to our talented employees, at Roydan we believe in the importance of family. We pride ourselves on helping our staff put family first and treating our customers as members of our extended family. That being said, we are thrilled to announce that the newest member of the Roydan team is not just *like* family, he actually *is* family!
At the end of each year, we typically get sentimental and reflect on the events and people that shaped the past 365 days. We consider the individuals who have made us successful and the lessons we have learned as we consistently seek to grow and improve. We also find ourselves thankful for another year of health, happiness and prosperity.
Roydan was founded on a philosophy of serving others. It’s a mindset that’s embedded in the way we do business as well as the way we interact within our local community. Our company President Dan Hornung models this way of thinking, serving several area organizations, including the Manitowoc Public Utilities (MPU) Commission, of which he has been a member since 1991.
A cancer diagnosis is a difficult blow no matter who it impacts. When that diagnosis is given to a child, it's often devastating and requires the support of an army in the midst of the battle. Adam’s Army was formed to do just that for Roydan team member Greg Brey and his family in the wake of his son Adam’s cancer diagnosis this past February. What started as a simple hashtag to bolster the spirits of a little boy waging war on this horrible disease became a rallying cry across the US and around the world.
When you ask Nick Henegar why he is excited to work with the Roydan team, he uses words like “family,” “integrity” and “honesty.” This is the culture we strive for every day, and we are thrilled that even in his first few days at Roydan, Nick already knew this defined the Roydan team.
Providing first rate support is a key part of the customer-centric focus here at Roydan. With that in mind, we are thrilled to be adding another great team member to Roydan’s customer support team as we welcome Phil Zemple to the team.
Family is a central part of who we are at Roydan. We believe it is important to treat both our customers and employees as members of our family. This focus also extends outside of the four walls in which we conduct business to the community we call home. With that in mind, we are honored to lend a hand to Hope House of Manitowoc County through a Roydan donation drive.
Doing our part to make sure our clients have the tools they need to be successful is woven into the fabric of who we are here at Roydan. This means attending industry events, keeping up-to-date on the latest industry developments, and getting involved in other relevant ventures. With this in mind we are pleased to announce that our Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Megan Manis, was recently appointed to the Board of Directors for the Great Lakes Credit and Collection Association (GLCCA).
At Roydan, we take great pride in the community in which we live--our hometown of Manitowoc, Wisconsin--and feel it’s our duty to reach out to our community and lend a hand when we see a need arise.
Mentoring the next generation of business professionals is important to the Roydan team. We know that the future of our organization will one day rest in the hands of these talented young students. We also understand that it is our job to help them gain the important skills needed to prepare them for their future careers.
Helping our customers find the best debt collection software solutions is what Roydan Enterprises is all about. We work hard to ensure that our customer’s needs are not only heard, but also reflected in the software solutions we develop. With that in mind, we are excited to announce the promotion of Joe Cohen to Product Manager.
At Roydan we believe that our success is only because of our amazing customers and hardworking team members. We know that each person on our staff plays an important part in helping to provide our customers the best possible software solutions and customer support experiences. With that in mind, we are thrilled to be adding two members to our team.
Last year, the Roydan team started a Healthy Initiative as a way to encourage our team members to focus on health and wellness as a way of life. Each month, we were able to take part in a variety of different activities related to health, fitness and wellness. Our initiative was such a success that we decided to keep the momentum going with a new challenge.
The start of a new year typically brings mixed feelings. It is a time to reflect on all that was accomplished in the past year, and a time to anticipate what is ahead for the coming days. At Roydan, 2016 was a year of great growth, reaching beyond ourselves, connecting and celebrating big accomplishments.
As we end 2016 here at Roydan, we are thrilled to say that this has been an amazing year of growth for our organization. We have been fortunate to add several new members to our team to help us continue to serve our valued customers both now and well into the future. The month of December has been no exception as we welcome Jim Cloudman to our software development team.
A few months back, we told you about our new company-wide challenge called the healthy initiative. Each month, our team members have been encouraged to take part in a specific activity related to health and wellness. During the month of November, we put a special twist on this wellness program, challenging our team members to give back to our local community by volunteering at our local food pantry.
A concise mission and vision is an important part of an organization that has a centralized emphasis on customer success. At Roydan our number one focus has always been to do what makes our customers’ jobs easier.
We are so lucky to enjoy longevity with our valued customers here at Roydan. We believe this is a direct result of our customer centric focus. One of the things that drives this focus is a dedicated group of employees who are always looking for the best ways to help our customers be successful. Among those team members is Mike Charnon. Like many of our customers, Mike has been with Roydan for an extended period of time and is a big part of who we are and what we do!
At ROYDAN Enterprises, we believe making an impact in the lives of others is not just about a pat on the back for a job well done, but rather it is going above and beyond to make a tangible difference. This means we are there not only when our valued customers need our services, but we look for opportunities to reach out to the community in which we are so fortunate to operate our business. With that in mind, we are proud to announce that we are once again a drop off site for the KAN Cool for School supply drive.
Providing the very best for our customers is central to how we do business here at Roydan. This means that not only do we provide them with products that help them to meet (and exceed) their business goals, but we employ the very best talent to help fulfill this mission. With that in mind, we would like to take the time to introduce you to the Roydan team in an on-going blog series called Roydan Employee Spotlight.
Being our best for our customers is not just about offering the best product (although it is one thing we strive for every single day!). To our team at Roydan, it also means that we offer our best self. With that in mind, this year, we are excited to be undertaking a healthy initiative program, so we can be our very best for our valued customers, both with the products we offer and the service we provide.
At Roydan, we believe that awards and accolades are second to the trust and respect we seek to earn every day from our valued customers. Nonetheless, it is always nice to be recognized by industry professionals for hard work and achievements.
Approximately 110 people are diagnosed with Type 1 (T1) diabetes every day. It is an autoimmune disease that does not have a cure, only management through frequent monitoring of blood-sugar levels and administration of insulin to balance these levels. Despite the mindset that it is a disease that affects only children, an equal number of adults also endure what are sometimes debilitating side effects.
At Roydan, we are always looking for innovative ideas to help us create the best possible software solutions for our customers. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce the recent addition of James McCollum to our talented team of software developers.
At Roydan, we define our company’s success based on how successful our customers are. With that in mind, we are always excited to hear about our customers' experiences when working with our team and our debt collection software solution. For the past several years, we have been fortunate to know Don Padalis, owner of All State Credit Bureau. Not only is he a valued resource in the debt collection industry, but now we are pleased to call him valued Roydan customer.
At Roydan, we truly value what our customers have to say. We're also fortunate to have some of the best customers around. Take a moment to listen to an interview with one of these valued customers, Jeff Gronholz, President of Lindy's Collection Service. We are so fortunate to be able to work with his team!
Roydan is excited to announce the expansion of our sales team with the addition of Greg Brey. Greg joins Roydan as an Account Manager. In this position he will be working closely with Roydan’s valued customers from initial product demonstrations through final implementation to ensure that our debt collection software solutions continue to exceed expectations.
To say that student loan debt is a national issue would not be surprising to anyone, but to understand the sheer volume of the issue could cause a few eyebrows to raise. Collection agencies are on the front lines in the student debt crisis trying to recover loans that have gone into default, while working with graduates who are often just trying to get by. Because of this frontline role, we believe it is important for collection agencies to have a strong understanding of the problem as well as some of the solutions the government is offering for graduates who find themselves in a debt collection situation.
As is tradition at this time of year, we at Roydan would like to take a moment to reflect on the past year as we look forward to a bright and promising 2016. We believe this is an excellent way to gauge our past performance and set expectations for the future.
It’s the week of Thanksgiving – a time when we, as Americans, look forward to gathering with family and friends for good food and the opportunity to reflect on the many blessings in our lives. With that in mind, we would like to take the time to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for here at ROYDAN.
Debt collection is a competitive business sector that is consistently inundated with governmental rules and regulations. Because of this, one of the biggest complexities agencies face is in the area of compliance management.
Working with Roydan and the Bloodhound software program has been second nature to Kenlyn Gretz, President and Owner of Americollect, Inc., in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Gretz, who started with the agency in 1988 and worked his way through the ranks, has always used Roydan’s Bloodhound Software platform. According to Gretz, working with Roydan “has been a good fit. I think they do a great job. They are responsive and they are always updating.”

This summer, Roydan Enterprises provided me with the opportunity to job shadow their Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Megan Manis. This experience exposed me to a sales and marketing profession in the software industry, while allowing me to learn valuable information that could not have been taught in the classroom. Megan, who worked closely with me as a mentor, stated, “We want to do our best to encourage ongoing relationships between students and Roydan as an organization.”
At Roydan Enterprises, we believe that a foundation of teamwork is essential for a successful company. Our team members come from many different backgrounds and offer a variety of talents, but we all share a passion to find solutions for our customers, which creates a common bond.

This is why our partnership with JIVE Communications is an essential part of the portfolio of debt collection solutions we provide to our customers. We partner with the team at JIVE to offer reliable, state-of-the-art VoIP solutions that allow our customers to do their jobs effectively, efficiently and most important, profitably.
The end of each year causes most of us to reflect on all of the events of the past year that have led us to the current position in which we find ourselves. We believe this is an excellent way to gauge our past performance and set goals for future endeavors. With that in mind, we want to take a minute to reflect on 2014 and thank each of our valued customers, vendors and other partners who have helped to make it such a special year for us.
At Roydan we are relentlessly striving to create software solutions that meet the ever-changing needs of the collection industry. With that in mind, we are constantly looking for ways to be more effective in creating our software solutions. We know that when our internal process is focused in the right direction, we are able to provide our customers with the best possible scenario for success.
Megan Manis joined Roydan in the summer of 2012 as our Sales and Marketing Manager. Since that time, her friendly disposition, infectious personality and hardworking demeanor have been both an asset and an inspiration to the Roydan team as well as our customers, vendors and other colleagues.
As the bright colors of fall give way to chilly November days and the upcoming holiday season, we take time to reflect on the people and organizations that helped shape our business over the past year. This year, we have many reasons to be thankful, but our customers are at the top of that very long list.
One of the biggest thrills for us at Roydan is forming relationships with our customers. Our team works with each of our valued customers in what we term a customer-centric approach. We understand that each customer has unique needs and requirements for their debt collection software, and it is our goal to create a solution that gives them the capabilities required to be successful.
There are some vendor partnerships that just seem to be a natural fit. The collaboration between Roydan and Advanced Payment Systems (APS) is one such relationship.
Dan Hornung founded Roydan Enterprises in 1980 after nine years working as a Civil Engineer for the City of Manitowoc. Under his leadership, Roydan grew from just one programmer to an entire team of developers, sales, marketing and customer service professionals. Using his background in engineering, Dan was, and still is, the visionary behind every software solution Roydan has developed and brought to market.

Every collection agency is looking for the perfect formula for success. Growing stressors of increased government regulations and mounting demands for profitability can leave many agencies searching for new ways to help them win business.
RevSpring was born out of a merger between four industry leaders – PSC Info Group, DANTOM Systems, Data Image and BestBill. The result of the merger was the creation of an industry powerhouse that offers accounts receivable management professionals a variety of communication service offerings to make their efforts more effective.
In our last spring cleaning blog, we provided input regarding ways to make your programs and computer systems more efficient, as well as things you should consider regarding your files and other database items. In this blog we are going to focus on security topics that you may not have thought about, as well as a few good reminders to ensure that your records and online transactions are protected.
Spring is the perfect time to tie up loose ends and prepare for busy days ahead. With year-end stressors out of the way for many businesses, it is time to start checking off all those other items on their to-do list. One thing that often gets neglected is a little bit of spring cleaning for their computer systems and collection programs.
